It’s been too long!

Has it been a long time since we blogged or what?! We do have a good reason though. Since December last year, we have been busy busy busy! And no, we aren’t exaggerating. Besides performing at the various Timbre outlets, there have been private gigs too. From all of us at the band, we would like to thank all of these nice people (you know who you are) for making us part of their special event!

If you would like us to perform at your upcoming event, lookout for a post next week where we’ll tell you how you can book us.

Welcome to Singapore’s weather!

In view of this, the band has decided to take a two week break from performing to refresh ourselves. (and keep ourselves dry.) Some of us are flying off to different areas, like (still- rainy-but-not-as-much-as-here) Phuket, (colder and dryer) New York, and (colder but slightly wet) Japan. The Goodfellas are checking out the weather there as we try to dominate the music charts in these three places. We figure that New York would be the most difficult, unless we all shave and lighten our skin. And that Japan would be the easiest, clean-shaven or  not. (No offence, Cecilia Cheung!)

Obviously, we would love to continue playing at Timbre these two weeks, but that’s quite difficult to do when we’re not in Singapore. So a gentle reminder, we’ll be gone from the

30th of November to the 14th of December.

The first gig we’ll be playing when we get back would be at Timbre Mobile on the 15th of December.

We’ll see you guys soon, and we will miss all of you these next two weeks. Hopefully you’ll miss us enough to see us when we come back.

Cutting the Fees

Ever wondered what it’s like to be a member of the Goodfellas? The week goes a little something like this:

Monday: Off / Event

Tuesday: Timbre Mobile (starts at 845pm)

Wednesday: Practice day (8-11pm)

Thursday: Timbre at the Substation ( starts at 1030pm)

Friday: Timbre at the ArtsHouse (starts at 945pm)

Saturday: Timbre at the Substation(starts at 1030pm)

Sunday: Off/Event

Sounds hectic? Try adding day jobs before performing at night and you might have a rough idea of how life as a Goodfella is like. We do sacrifice our time with our family and loved ones, and they try their best to understand. Which is why, as you can see from our schedule, whenever there’s an event, like a wedding or somebody’s circumcision party that we have to play for, it eats into our personal time.

We don’t mind doing it, obviously, but well, the next time we quote you our performing fee, please bear that tiny fact in mind. We are neither cut throats, nor do we want to squeeze your budget dry, but as Steven Gerrard said earlier this week (although I’m NOT a Liverpool fan), “You get what you deserve”, and well, to put it bluntly, you get what you paid for. If it’s a whole lot of entertainment that you want, and you think we are able to provide it, then we’ll repay your faith in us, no doubt about it.

Having said all this, the band definitely takes pleasure in performing at Timbre and meeting new patrons. It’s been nearly THREE years, people! By the way, look out for the next post on Holiday greetings. It’ll be funnier.

Those damn insects…

Another night of playing at Timbre. As usual, Tuesdays see us playing in a more relaxed, chilled out environment, at East Coast. We’re normally visited by the regulars who live around the area, but let’s not forget to give a shout out to the natural inhabitants of the carpark itself. Namely, the flying insects.

It’s almost like a scene from National Geographic. Five guys thrust into the wilderness, exposed to attacks from flying insects who, although pose no dangers per se, seem to be exactly the size of my index finger, and with a tendency to fly towards us when we least expect it. So now you know. If you see the band squirming on stage, or suddenly breaking up into fits of laughter, it’s not because you’re wearing a curtain for a dress. It’s those damn insects.

(Sidetracking a little) As a band, our mood relies on our patrons, believe it or not. I cannot say how much the crowd affects us, because that would be breaking the musician’s code, but trust me when I say that if you look happy to see us, we’ll be more than happy to reciprocate.

So, I’d like to thank each and everyone of you who came down tonight, and made Tuesdays a little more bearable.

Where’s the rain?

Isn’t that just always the case…You never miss sumthing until its not there anymore…I’m talking about the rain…the weather was so wet the past few days…and suddenly today its freaking scorching hot!! So Timbre Mobile will be dry tonite. Good opportunity for the soggy ground to dry up a little bit…so yeah! Leaving work now…to transform to our alter ego’s as Goodfellas! (LIKE SUM SUPERHERO) haha! C’mon down to Timbre Mobile ( ECP CArpark C1) we start at 2045hrs.

I somehow feel that i will regret saying missing the rain….

Monday Blues

It has been a long and fantastic weekend… We did the 1504 gig at timbre mobile (15 yrs of power 98 and 4 years of timbre) The crowd was slow to warm up but we still managed to rock the house as usual!!! hahahha! and then rushed off to Timbre@substation to do our usual Saturday nite gig. Was pleasant to see some faces that were at Timbre Mobile. I managed to talk to a few of them and apparently they said they were Goodfellas die hard fans!!! hahah!!!  Its an honour seriously!

The crowd at timbre substation was awesome as usual! In fact i felt dat it was extra awesome! Alwaya a pleasure to please…oh well…its monday…and it sux…so dats all for now peeps.

Timbre turns 4!

Hola people! Timbre is 4yrs old this year. We are playing at Timbre Mobile on Saturday also in collabo with Power 98′s anniv.!! Many great bands playing too. Check out www.timbre.com.sg for further details. Anyhoo…tonite is timbre at substation for us. Damn the rain man…its gonna be wet again…

Looks like another gloomy day… Oh well..rainy season hah… Good thing that it stops raining by the evening. Coz its Timbre Mobile day today! Guess my advertising paid off! hahaha! Yep..a few friends coming over to check it out tonight. Come on down Timbre Mobile Tonite. (east coast park Carpark C1 ) Goodfellas will be playing from 8:30ish pm till slightly before midnight. Come down say hi! Lemme buy u a beer!
